When To Go
Yelagiri has a moderate climate all through the year. During summers (March to June) temperature varies from 18°C to 34°C. Winters (November to February) are cool and temperature ranges from 11°C to 25°C. Monsoons (July to September) receives an average rainfall.Pongal (January) and Deepavali during October are two important festivals celebrated with much gaiety and enthusiasm. Summer festival for three days in the month of May is very attractive and during this period tourists flock to this place.
Best season to visit Yelagiri is from November to February.

Punganoor Lake
It is a man made lake which is created artificially so as to enhance the beauty of the place and attract the tourists so as to have better place for the people to visit and keep the life going as several people here rely on it for livelihood as it has been a tourist junction for years together. The periphery of the lake is around 57 sq meters and is a best place for boating and rowing.There is a beautiful flori culture garden in the neighbourhood where people can rest a while enjoying the beauty of the lake on one side. There is an open space for birds where different species of birds come to have their feed. In all, it is a wonderful place for all those who have loved nature to the core of their heart.
Velavan Temple
Velavan temple was constructed in the memory of Lord Murugan and is located on the tip of the mountains of yelagiri. It is a best view point to have a look at the wonderful large plains lying beneath from the top of the mountain. The temple bells ringing on the top of the mountain helps keep life going and maintains the essence of culture live upright even these days.All festivals celebrated in Tamil Nadu are celebrated with great pomp and luxury in velavan temple and the best time to visit this temple stays to be in the month of July or August when there are frequent festivals celebrated one after the other.
